The Story Continues....

Royalton Rachel
The result of my Sunday visits to the Hortons was the purchase of my first Lippitt, a red chestnut mare, Royalton Rachel, sired by Royalton Ashbrook Darling and out of Lippitt Royalton Nekomia.  This Rachel was a full sister to a mare the Hortons owned, Royalton Nekomia.  I had seen this mare advertised in a sale flyer in New York and I inquired to see who had purchased her only to find out no one had and I could contact the owners.  This I did and in 1973 I was the proud owner of my first Lippitt.
Rachel was full of energy, something I was not used to with my palomino quarter horses!  She was opinionated for sure.  I soon had a chestnut filly named Kimberly Apryl, sired by Hortons John Moro (Lippitt Bruce x Lippitt Beth Alert).  The next few years I moved and leased out Rachel to the Joynts who had her bred to Meredith Knight and got Charity Rachel Ash, now part of my program.  Royalton Rachel only had two living full Lippitt foals, both fillies before she was lost in foal to a twisted intestine.

With the loss of Rachel went my dream of four foundation mares all sired by Royalton Ashbrook Darling.  However with Rachel leaving her daughter Kimberly I still had the basis for continuing a breeding program using grand-daughters of Royalton Ashbrook Darling.
I kept Kimberly Apryl with me wherever I went but did not start her breeding until she was ten.  Personal circumstances made it impossible to have an active breeding program while renting and moving around.  I did send Kim for training and she was my riding horse until I gave up riding.  She was tough, never quitting and would go anywhere, sometimes where you did not want to go!!  She has size, 14.3, a big bold trot which was not comfortable to ride.  I bred Kim twice successfully.  The first foal was by Ryegate Black Jud, Image Natyck who resides in Wells River, VT and is the Allen's riding mare.  The second foal, also a filly, was Gretchen Moro, sired by Meredith Tiger (Lippitt Moro Ashmore x Lippitt Nancy Moro).  Gretchen is a red chestnut like her grandmother, is 14.3 but has never been able to settle for a foal.  Time is running out and I still am trying.
